We believe that having good navigation is important and that there is no place for the "BACK" button in navigating a site.
Our overall objective is to make your web site as useful as possible for your clients so that they will visit your site, stay on your site after they get there, increase the likelihood of their return and increase your sales activity. In order to accomplish this, we have established philosophies and basic parameters/standards that we use to design and implement your site.

Adequate Navigation Tools

  • We will design the site to ensure easy, instinctive, and reliable navigation on all pages and to all other areas of the site.
  • The issue of Frames versus No Frames. Frames allow the navigation bar(s) to remain stationary when the text on the page scrolls while. While this seems advantageous, our research indicates that the industry is moving away from the use of frames, as search engines have a difficult time navigating through them, and therefore sites don't tend to rank as high. We find that most clients want to have as high a ranking as possible, while maintaining a user friendly, easily navigable site. Our compromise on this issue is to keep pages from scrolling too far and have additional navigation on the bottom of the page, along with a "Back to Top" button that takes the user back to where the navigation is visible.

Sufficient Interactivity

  • Provide general forms, links, animations, etc. within individual pages to effectively keep the interest of the visitor and promote the desired results.
  • Our philosophy is that "fancier" is not necessarily better. When you have too much animation or other "gimmicks," it tends to distract the user and they get so involved in "playing" that they lose sight of why they are there. We use an approach that is very pleasing to the user, but keeps them focused on obtaining the information they need. A clean, uncluttered, easily navigable but artistically pleasing look is what we strive for with our designs.

Construction standards

Following is a list of our design parameters. These standards will be followed when building your site, unless first discussed.
  • Frames will not be used unless specifically requested by the client
  • We design for Microsoft Internet Explorer and Netscape versions 4.x and higher
  • Pages are sized for 600 x 800 monitor resolution
  • When including links that take the user off-site, the link will open in a new window, rather than in the web site itself, so that the user is able to remain in the Client's web site while still obtaining the information provided from another web site.
  • Contact information will be included on every page as well as bottom navigation on long pages
  • Our target download times are: 8-12 seconds for the Splash page, and 6-8 seconds for inside pages. All times are based on use of a 56k modem.
  • We use the following software to create our sites: Adobe PhotoShop, Adobe ImageReady, Homesite, Adobe LiveMotion
  • We use the following coding methods: HTML, DHTML, ASP and JavaScript
